Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South) – The chances for a grand coalition of opposition parties has suffered another setback after MDC-T VP Nelson Chamisa accused fellow opposition leaders of being opportunists seeking to reap from Morgan Tsvangirai’s work.
Chamisa said they should all forget about leading the invisaged union against President Mugabe in 2018 as Tsvangirai will do that.
“I want you to know that when hunting there are those who will be following the one chasing the prey and when he is about to catch the prey you see them sharpening their knives”
“So, be careful of such individuals,” he said in a not-so-subtle dig at fellow opposition leaders notably Joice Mujuru who has suddenly developed grand ambitions to lead the coalition.
Chamisa said any other party is free to unite with the MDC-T provided they are ready to follow behind Morgan Tsvangirai.
“I am saying all those who want to join us please feel free to do so because we have opened our doors for any coalition”
“Those who want to work with us like Joice Mujuru, please come and follow Tsvangirai. Tendai Biti if you want to work with us, come and follow Tsvangirai, Dr Simba Makoni, even if you once failed, you are free to come and join Tsvangirai.
“Dumiso Dabengwa do not be hated by others please, come and join Tsvangirai, to Elton Mangoma we are saying, come and beat your drums behind Tsvangirai”, said Chamisa in a seemingly bombastic manner that isnt likely to go down well with the other opposition parties.
Their have been several verbal skirmishes of late with apparent jostling for posts hindering the likelihood of a coalition as the country heads towards the 2018 elections.
In his last rally President Mugabe even scoffed at the opposition party leaders for fighting for leadership posts even before they have defeated him in the elections.0
