Harare, Zimbabwe. (news Of the South) – FOLLOWING their successful tour spanning six European countries over a time-line of three weeks, multiple award-winning Zimbabwean music group, Mokoomba, will settle for a home performance when they launch their latest “album titled “Luyando” at Theatre in the Park in Harare on Friday March 24.
The latest project – whose name simply means “Love” in the Tonga language – is the third from the globe-hopping afro-fusion outfit.
“This is purely an acoustic album, on it we had to go back to our roots, to our culture so that people know where we come from,” said a member of the group.
“People want to listen to what they can identify as original music and hence our decision to play what we call music of the world, which is like Jazz which reaches to all corners,” he added.
Apart from Tonga, some of the songs on the album were done in Nyanja, Luvale and Shona, while translations and additional information will be available inside the CD booklet.
The tracks include “Mokole”, “Kulindiswe”, “Kumkukawe”, “Kambowa”, “Njawane” as well as the title track.
“The love we are taking of here is mother’s love and the videos on their way,” said the group member.
The launch starts at 7 pm and CDs will be on sale for $10
