Tongai Mnangagwa is supporting private colleges that are in Harare South constituency with various initiatives.
In an interview with News of The South, a teacher with New Cerney Park College teacher Melody Saungweme said Mnangagwa through his trust Tonganyika recently made a kind gesture towards funding a sports trip for 10 colleges in the community enabling them to participate at an athletics competition held recently.
“We thank Honourable (the moniker for Tongai Mnangagwa) came to support us to fulfil our participation at the athletics tournament at the National Sports Stadium by hiring luxury buses to ferry us to the venue and on top of that we also got food stuffs worth over $200,”confirmed Saungweme.
Among the colleges that benefitted are New Cerney, Focus, Kudzanai Canterbury, Data Base, Constellation, Sunrise.
Harare South Constituency is a sprawling suburb which however is underdeveloped and thus a lot of low-income households live in the area.
Most of the schools that are in the area are private colleges which are under-resourced hence Tonganyika Trust ‘s philanthropic works has seen it donating furniture, laptops, soccer balls and jerseys.
It is also paying fees to a number of less-privileged children.
The trust has also contributed over $300 000 towards a private clinic in the area which is going to serve over 20 000 people in the impoverished community.
