News of the South HARARE – Zimbabwe is set to witness the historic Miss Twins Zimbabwe beauty pageant scheduled for the 15th of December 2018 at East Point in Harare.

The pageant which is the brainchild of SDP Chief Executive Sarah Dhliwayo, is the first of its kind in the world where sets of twins will be given a platform to showcase themselves in their biological pairs.

Speaking during a press conference in Harare this afternoon, Dhliwayo said the idea of Miss Twins Zimbabwe came through realising how it is difficult to accomplish goals as an individual without help from another.

“It is easy for twins to accomplish their goals because of the unity they have from birth which gives them an advantage over individuals.

“Working as an individual I struggled a lot and realised there is need for unity and working with someone which made unity become the main aim for Miss Twins Zimbabwe,” Dhliwayo said.

She added that apart from promoting unity, the pageant aims at giving back to communities through various projects contestants will be exposed to in the run up to the finals and after the winning pair is crowned.

“We have a mission to deliver back to our communities, improve them for a better future, create projects and sporting activities so that every school leaver has something to do after school and this can keep youths off the streets,” added Dhliwayo.

Despite many sponsors promising Dhliwayo to support the initiative, only East Point committed to helping the initiative by offering their facility as venue to the event as well as sponsoring the pageant.

Speaking to News of the South, Miss Twins Harare crown holders who are also among the finalists, Linda and Lippie Ndagurwa commended the initiative and expressed gratitude for being given an opportunity to join forces as twins in a competition.

“The pageant indeed strengthens the unity between me and my twin sister.

“We have taken part in different pageants since primary school and this is the first time we are participating in one as a pair,” Lippie said.

Dhliwayo said she came up with the idea in February before it roared into life in June this year and they went around different towns and Cities until they came up with 10 sets of twins who will be the finalists at the historic pageant.
