Harare, Zimbabwe. (News Of The South) CREATIVITY knows no bounds for talented sungura musician Herbert Majeke who seems to be gifted with the Midas touch as evidenced by his latest album, “Ndezveziya”.

The album – which is still a hot ‘cake’ from the oven – comprises of six tracks laden with constructive social messages.

The artwork that went into the project in terms of compositions, arrangement as well as the instruments themselves, make the album a sure-fire favourite of many be it on the airwaves, leisure and entertainment joints and in the the home set-up.

In titling the album “Ndezveziya”, Majeke was reminding people that sweat comes from sweat. According to Majeke, the little that he has in life was achieved owing to hard work, and therefore people should desist from the syndrome of trying to reap where they did not sow, especially in these harsh economic times.

On the artisitc saide, Majeke said he also sweated very much to come up with this album, sometimes sleeping at odd hours putting his all into the project.

“There is no substitute for hard work, commitment, focus, passion and being principled in whatever you would be doing in life. This is the reason why I decided to come up with this album,” said the “Fiona” hitmaker.

The track “Katsamba”, which is sungura fused with kanindo, is a light-hearted song that celebrates the virtues of technology. In it, the musician takes us back to era of sending letters via post and this method often took long for the letters to reach their recipients. He then compares this method to the technological way of sending messages via social platforms like whatsapp, facebook, among others whereby information is relayed in a matter of a few seconds.

“Dzaive tsamba dzekare dzainonoka, dzemazuva dzave kukurumidza,” are part of the lyrics.
On “Mwana Mwana”, Majeke advises parents not to discriminate their children on the basis of gender. In the song, he insists that everyone deserves equal rights like the right to education. A powerful song indeed on a slow sungura tempo.

“Timing” talks about the importance of being time concious, while “Mushonga Imvura” supports that Biblical verse which says,” cleanliness is closer to God”.

“Zvininipise” and “Pane Chanetsa” make up the rest of the playlist.

The album was recorded at Gramma Records and produced by Peter Muparutsa, while vetran drummer and music producer Aaron Tom played the drums, Lazaraus “Foromani” Kabi (former Tembo Brothers guitarist) was on rhythm guitar with Majeke himself on bass.

Some of his previous albums include “Afro-Fusion Volume 1” (2003), “Kugara Kunzwana (2009), “Takashinga” (2011), and “Kuchema Nemufaro” (2013).
