(News of The South) – The England captain, Harry Kane scored first his first World Cup hat-trick in a 6-1 demolition of the debutants Panama in a match where the Three Lions set a new record of netting 5 goals in just under 45 minutes, something they have never done before.
Tottenham strikers’ first two goals came from the spot-kicks, following Panama’s rough-housing tricks at corner kicks.
The captain has now scored the most goals for the Three Lions at a World Cup encounter in 28 years following his hat-trick against Panama in a widely one sided match, making him the current top scorer in Russia with 5 goals ahead of Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Kane is now the first ever English player to net at least four goals in World Cup group stages breaking the 1986 record set by Lineker and 1966 record by Roger Hunt.
His second goal from penalty made him the first player to score at least two goals in each of his first two World Cup games in 44 years.
Manchester City’s defender Jonh Stones also scored two goals becoming the only second Manchester City player to do so at a World Cup after the 1982 Trevor Francis heroics.
Statistically, England netted their first five goals in just 45 minutes at a rate of a goal per every nine minutes, therefore eclipsing their Euro 2016 total of four goals under 45 minutes.
The Three Lions have now booked their place in the last 16 ahead of what looks like a dead rubber encounter against Belgium next week.
