Birmingham. (News of The South)- The high powered Birmingham Summer Fiesta featuring Zimbabwe’s finest Jah Prayzah and Sulumani Chimbetu and Tanzania’s star Diamond Platinumz ended earlier than scheduled due to Zimbabwean music fans getting out of control.
Trouble started when fans overpowered security and entered the barrier at the VIP enclosure which became packed with fans right in front of the stage.
During Jah Prayzah’s performance overexcited fans were sitting on speakers and others were pouring drinks onto electrical sound equipment. This got the sound engineer angry and he turned off the sound system around 2am to the annoyance of fans. The show was scheduled to end at 4am. This all happened when Diamond Platinumz was just about to go on stage to join Jah Prayzah for the collab Watora mari and piporo pipo.
Jah Prayzah’s performance was the best ever in the UK.
When fans realised the show wasn’t going on anymore others began to throw bottles onto the stage.
The show organisers Digital One have acknowledged the crisis and are in the process of resolving the problem and are arranging for Diamond Platinumz to perform for the fans.
Digital One spokesperson Jah Hanief has urged fans to hold on to their tickets and wristbans as they will be used to enter the rescheduled show which will be announced soon.
