Harare, Zimbabwe. News Of The South) – IF you are one of those people who miss the era of the music galas, then brace yourself for one of such a kind to be held at Mutoko Homestead in Kadoma this Saturday (August 5).
With August being the month that the Heroes Splush music gala was normally held to commemorate Heroes Day, the Mutoko Memorial bash is set to rekindle such fond memories in the hearts of many a music lovers when close to 20 musicians descend in Kadoma town for the show.
Organised by Dubai-based gospel singer and music promoter John Mutoko, the bash is in memory of the artiste’s late father, Bishop Mutoko, who belonged to the Members in Christ Church.
Prominent gospel musicians such as Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, Mathias Mhere, Olinda Marowa, Gamuchirai Magadzire and Sandra Chirenje are expected to lead the line-up of gospel performers who number up to more than 15.
On the other hand, Dendera music exponent Suluman Chimbetu, whom Mutoko featured together with Mhere on his latest album “1 Samuel 7:12” will also add variety to the bash when he leads other secular musicians who make up the line-up.
“This is a memorial service for my late father who passed away on August 8 last year. We therefore decided to hold this commemorative bash because he changed many lives as a Bishop and Pastor.
“He used to say music is a ministry that impacts lives. He loved music so much that he even inspired me to play it from a very tender age. So wherever he is, he will be very happy to have all these different artistes represented by the different generations of musicians in Zimbabwe,” said Mutoko.
Mutoko said the Guest of Honour at the event will be United Kingdom-based Church Minister Pastor Emmanuel Kapofu of International Life Centre.
The bash will start at 9 am and spill over into the following day.
