News of the South HARARE – Mutare City suffered a heavy defeat in the hands of Black Rhinos at the giant National Sports Stadium yesterday, the latter surpassing FC Platinum’s record of scoring the most goals in one match this season.
Black Rhinos ripped City’s fresh wound with a 7-0 margin after they had been massacred 6-0 by the log leaders just a fortnight ago.
The army side opened the score sheet just 10 minutes into the game with a goal from Tafadzwa Jaravani and continued the 10 minute ritual with a second goal from Wellington Taderera.
Other goal scorers were Allan Gahadzikwa with a brace, Masimba Mambare, substitutes Lot Chiwunga and Macdonald Makuwe while Mambare impressed Coach Herbet Maruwa with two brilliant assists on top of his conversion.
“I am quite happy with the performance from the boy.
“Everything went according to our plan; we knew Mutare City was dangerous and we came prepared for the match,” said Maruwa.
He added that he was impressed by the margin with which they won and said they need to maintain and keep pushing hard to earn a place in the top four.
Mutare City edged Highlanders last week and many expected them to continue with that performance into the Rhinos game but they put up a poor performance.
Their coach Ndega Matsika admitted his team got what they deserved because they did not come prepared.
“We were not up to it today.
“We lost so much energy when we played the mid week game against Highlanders.
“We conceded early and failed to play our normal game,” Matsika said.
He also said fatigue was catching up with them and they failed to concentrate right through the game.
Rhinos could have won the game by a wider margin because of the poor performance that City came with.0
