Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South ) – African Capacity Building Foundation( ACBF) and the New Partnerships for Africa’s Development( NEPAD) has hailed the joint partnership agreement which marks an important milestone in building partnerships for supporting implementation of Africa’ s socio-economic transformation.
Addressing journalists, Wednesday, on the occasion of signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two parties at their offices in Harare, ACBF Executive Secretary Emmanuel Nnadozie said the two parties engaged into MOU that sought to establish a partnership between the two organizations in matters relating to capacity building.
Nnadozie added a number of activities have been implemented under this MOU, with ACBF directly investing US$2m , out which NEPAD managed to absorb about US$ 1 869 244.
The executive Secretary highlighted that the two parties now endeavour to engage more strategically on areas of common interest based on Africa’s emerging needs, hence the need to formally renew and step up our level of engagement.
“Sometime in July, I led an ACBF team to NEPAD offices in South Africa, to further engage and explore opportunities for further reinforcing our partnership, and had an opportunity to drill down on the technical areas of engagement.
“The discussions held during this visit have to a greater extant framed our new revitalized cooperation and have culminated into the finalization a Memorandum of Understanding”, Nnadozie explained.
The MOU partnership agreement will focus on the strengthening of capacity development in Africa for the effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation of agenda 2063 and its 10 year plan.
Nnadozie said the priority areas of mutual focus will include the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of capacity development priorities in the 1st 10 year plan of agenda 2030- 2063.
The MOU will also focus on joint implementation of AU/ NEPAD 2015-2025 Capacity Development Plan for Regional Economic Communities on Institutional Development for effective implementation of Regional Development Plans and agenda 2063.
The agreement will jointly mobilize resources for the implementation of the areas of collaboration.
