Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)- Legendary Chimurenga musician Thomas Mapfumo has called it ‘bubblegum music’ accusing it of a temporary beauty that fades with time, but the emergence of a 11 year old has, for the time being, stalled such an extinction from happening.
Zimdancehall is receiving fresh blood and may not be exiting the stage sooner to Mapfumo’s liking.
Fyha Lady, real name Tanyaradzwa Rota is set to release her second album in the coming weeks, a feat which is a reckoning on its own for the Murewa based musician.
The young girl who is doing her grade 6 at Rota primary school is set to launch her second album named River Jordan on the 23rd of September in Marondera.
Her first album called Trouble Maker was released on 22 October last year though it did not receive adequate airplay.
It contained tracks such as_mwanangu ft rc masawi, kupinda kwangu, chibharo ft bontoman, mhamha, stop abusing children and mhamha na dad.
Fyha Lady has however been making waves on the music circuit and is the current holder of the Chipaz 2016 City Sports Cup Clash winner.
According to her manager Chu Squared (Orliery Chuchu, “she is also the 2017 Mash East Provincal Annual Sports Science and Arts Festival winner and is now waiting for the National festival”.
Fyha Lady started singing when she was 8 years old in 2014.
Chuchu says the hot new album has themes on early marriage, ill treatment from step mother,nature and beauty of Zimbabwe amongst others.1
